Hi Folks,
Have been studying for the exam for the last few months and I'm taking it on Thursday. I had always thought the exam would have 60 questions and be 3 hrs long with 58% pass rate. I got a mail from pearson this morning and it stated the exam would be 150 mins.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this new? Is there less questions?

Thanks

Stephen

Welcome to CodeRanch!

You've not mentioned which version of OCPJP you are giving (5, 6 or 7).

However, all those exams are having duration as 150 mins only. Also, none of those versions have 58% as required passing score.

You can get detailed information at Oracle's official website.

I hope this helps.

All the Best!

Thanks for the replies.

The reason i thought the exam was 3 hours was because of what i had read in the practice exam book by Bert Bates and Kathy Sierra

"The real exam has 60 questions (the same for the four full practice exams in this
book). You need 35 correct questions to pass. (The online web site for the OCP
Java SE Programmer exam states this, not too helpfully, as 58.33 percent.) As of
this writing, you will be given three hours to complete the exam (three minutes per
question), which should be more than enough time."

This is stated in the introduction to the book.
If this was the case at the time of writing and it has been shortened to 150 mins does this mean the questions are easier or take less time to do?

Thanks Again

Stephen
