Forum notifications

Hi,
I'm not getting any notifications for new posts in the forums. Could somebody please advice.

I have correct preferences' settings. I did disable the notifications accidentally two days back and my notifications got disabled. To rectify this I selected y for the send notifications preferences' setting. But still I'm not getting any notifications.

Could somebody please advice.

One observation : In the profile settings, my email id gets overwritten by my user name. Changing it doesn't work cause as soon as I save the changes and browse the settings again, I have my username where I should have my email id. Not sure if this is the reason why I'm not getting any notifications.

Our logs show that you were receiving notifications for new topics in a forum till the 10th of this month. Your profile too looks fine and in terms of the email id. Are you saying that you are watching certain forums and haven't been receiving mails for new topics for that forum since after 10th of this month? Our logs don't show any failures though.

Did a quick check and I don't see that you are watching any forums for new topics. That explains why you aren't seeing any notifications. Click on the Watch Forum button on the bottom of the forum page (which lists the threads) of your choice.

Earlier I was getting a notification everytime somebody posted a new topic even though I wasn't following a specific topic. That is not happening now. And I don't know how to revert the current settings to my previous settings.

With the previous setting( the default I guess), it was easy for me to browse through my emails and then select a topic that I'd want to read about. This helped me learn better and revise the concepts that I have already studied.

I would appreciate if you could help.

There is a button at the bottom of each forum page. After you press that button, you should receive notifications of new topics in that forum.

Actually it seems like I'm still not getting any notifications for the topics that others are posting. It's been like 40 minutes or so since I enabled notifications for posts in forums 'beginning java' and 'Java in general'.

I believe there weren't new threads created in these forums in that period. There were some new posts added, but they went to existing threads, and you'll get notification on these only if you're watching the threads the posts were added to.

I'm removing the solved mark from this thread. Please let us know whether you get some new post notifications after some more time. I believe there will be some new threads created in a few hours.
