Java Graphics: Creating an adjustable timeline  RSS feed

I'm looking for suggestions as to a good approach for creating an adjustable timeline.

What I mean by "adjustable timeline" is that when the frame is zoomed in (out) the resolution of the timeline is increased (decreased).

For instance, the maximum resolution may be in seconds and the minimum in nanoseconds.

I'm working on creating a time-based simulator which displays certain events at the respective times that they occurred.

I've looked into using Piccolo2D for the zooming aspect as they have ZUI capabilities built-in for free - but this may not be the best direction to go in.

Any suggestions or links are appreciated!
