I have a requirement to read, edit and save text file from server in my online application. What would be the best practice for doing this.

I was thinking to load the text file into html text area to edit and save. Please let me know if this would be the good option or any better way of doing it.

Sounds logical. How big is your file anyway?

Generally the file size starts from 100 KB to max of 256MB.

Editing a 256-MB file isn't a realistic requirement in any environment at all.

Imagine this conversation:

Boss: We need to transport steel girders to the construction site. What kind of vehicles do we need?

Transportation Manager: Well, how long are the girders?

Boss: Anywhere from 10 feet to 200 feet.

TM: 200 feet! We're going to have to get special equipment for those things!

Boss: But we won't have very many girders that long.

TM: Oh, okay. Then we just need a 40-foot flatbed truck.

Explain what is wrong with the TM's assessment.
