Send information to client, which session is over

Hi,can you help me with this situation.
On the servlet I am closing one of the sessions ( sessionName.close() ) if some condition appears to be true. No problems with that. But I also would like to send message to client with information, why this connection is lost. Now after " sessionName.close() " client gets '500 The call failed on the server; see server log for details' and detailed information is in server.log as it should be. But how to implement pop-up message which will show "Connection is lost due to THIS SPECIFIC situation"? It seems that "caught" is getting only this 500th error.
