To get input from the user and display it in the same page

Hi i am new to java script.I wanted to get input from the user(int,string,array of string or anything like that) and to display it in the same page just like a guest book.But they say i need to create a cgi directory through which only i can create it.I have created a HTML file as below




I created a servlet named "guestbook1" and passed the value to that program as below



from this program i call the jsp program to display the text the user has entered.



I am a begineer to java script so forgive me if there is any mistake in these program and can you please help me
