but error...

And what is the error? I can see at least one potential error in that code.
Please explain what you mean about getting the maximum height.

Well, this must be one of those moments where we're all supposed to read OP's mind...

If you want to set your frame to be the size of your screen, you should take a look at java.awt.Toolkit class.
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
