Recently I got thru the Java SE 7 upgrade exam from Java 5, on a second attempt. It was a tough test. I learned quite a few things in Java. I mostly used Oracle's documentation for my preparation. I had some time to put together this upgrade exam knowledge as a quiz. I wrote a Java program for the quiz; its useful for Java 7 upgrade exam preparation. It has 80 questions. Its free for use and can be run from www.javaquizplayer.com.

Prasad.

Thanks. The exam had 90 questions to be answered in 180 minutes. The questions were mostly knowledge based, I think. There were some questions with code, which took time to answer. About 30% of the questions were from the Java File IO topic.

I did not use any simulators for my preparation. I used Java documentation (javadoc, tutorials, etc). For design pattern topics I did get info from web search. I made a lot of notes, made a quiz card program which displayed exam topics at random (a program I came to know when I had prepared for SCJP 5 exam), and wrote example code (and I used most of the info from that notes to develop the questions in Java Quiz Player app).
