Using a framework --> less coding --> improved productivity
In other words, frameworks (should) implement common functionality for you and let you concentrate on those things that are application-specific. At least that's the idea. Reality is, of course, less beautiful and you still need to do a lot of blumping in order to get the application out of the door.
I think the main benefit of using a framework is that you get to build on something that has already been developed and tested. You can then focus on the business problem you are trying to solve, rather than technology problems.
