When a visit object serializes its data; where does it dump its content; I am thinking it could not be in memory because that would be taking unnecessary space, at the same time it could not be writing them to disk, since that would take too much time to retrieve while the program is running. I will be glad if guys can clear my doubts here.

I would guess it's to disk, if it was still in memory it wouldn't need to be serialized. The hit from getting something off the disk is pretty minimal in a webapp. Serialization is also used to transmit between clustered servers.
