Kid? With the hook?? You're not referring to Hermie are you? Can it be you've never seen the classic Christmas special?

When I was a kid, I had the soundtrack (on vinyl) that I'd play endlessly during the holidays. For some reason, the song "We are Santa's Elves" would send my older brother into a killing rage.

I like my own fruitcake, which is made with real fruit rather than the nuclear-colored gummy fruit that usual fruitcakes seems to be made with.

I don't know where she found the recipe, but when I was a kid my mom started making a "fruitcake" with dried apricots, golden raisins, some kind of nuts, and sweetened with honey. She'd set it down in the garage to marinate in apricot nectar for about a week. Man, it was good!

Except for the apricot nectar (which sounds really good) that sounds a lot like mine (which is a variation of Alton Brown's "Free Range" Fruitcake recipe).
