You're a day early. If you try to rush it, you'll get a lousy apocalypse!

And nothing can ruin your day like a half-assed apocalypse.

so...will this be a rolling apocalypse? I mean...what time will the world end? If it is supposed to be at noon, will it end in discreet chunks as the earth spins and each time zone becomes noon, will it end as the sun crosses the meridian, or something else? perhaps at the exact instant when then entire planet is on the 21st...i think that would be Noon, GMT?

It's supposed to happen at the winter solstice. So, for the US (New York Time), it will be at 6:11 am tomorrow morning.

Over lunch, I was talking about when exactly it would happen tomorrow.

Someone suggested to phone to Australia tomorrow morning (since Australia is ahead in time compared to us). If you'd get the busy tone, then that would be a hint something is wrong. If you get a page not found error on www.google.com.au then you should really start to worry.

This discussion of using another timezone as an indicator, kinda reminds me of a scene from one of my favorite childhood movies...

Someone on another board I visit suggested that all Australians stop posting on all social networks at Noon Australian time. That will freak people in the US out.

One of my FB friends suggested that all the electric companies should shut off all the power for ten minutes, just to freak everyone out.

My reply to technical issues at work today is, "I'm fairly certain it will be resolved by 11:11 UTC tomorrow."

Well, they built whole pyramids with alignment based on the actual solstice. They didn't give a crap about modern time zones.

Interesting picture of something some people in China bought. It floats so you can ride out whatever. Then what?

As I understand it, the end of the world is supposed to be caused by a giant invisible planet crashing into the Earth. (The people saying this don't mention that the giant planet is invisible, but it must be because nobody has seen it yet.) So that would mean that time zones are irrelevant.

Seems like the celebrants at the Mayan pyramids will be concentrating on dawn, rather than the equinox. Which makes sense, as the equinox occurs an hour before dawn for them; not much to see I guess. Dawn is more dramatic.
