Pardon me if i am posting in the wrong section since this post doesn't have anything to do with technical aspects of Testing. Mods can delete or move my post if they think i am violating any of the forum laws.

Looking for advice from veterans here who are well versed in java performance testing especially those who have worked on Lisa which is a performance testing tool. Others are welcome to pitch in as well.
Being a Java , J2EE developer for 5 years , an opportunity has come up for me to learn Lisa and to implement the same in testing performance of web services deployed in a distributed environment. Since taking this opportunity would mean that i would stop being a dev and be a tester instead, i am in a dilemma. :-)

I just want to know couple of things -
Is this tool widely used? since all i hear about is LoadRunner when it comes to performance testing.
Being a noob in this area, Are these tools really helpful in tweaking the performance of enterprise applications?

and Is it a good move on my part to move from dev to performance testing? . How is the career growth like in this area?

PS: Sorry for the long post but i felt it was imperative to write so much to get my point across.
