Hi,

I'm using JBoss AS 7.1.0.Final on Mac 10.7.5. Occasionally, I'll try and restart JBoss, and I'll fail with the below error ("bind failed: Address already in use"). Below is output from the console …

The server log has this message

What else should I be doing to restart my server successfully? - Dave

Do a netstat and see which process is using the port. See this for more info https://community.jboss.org/wiki/DebugBindException

What port is in use, though? The error messages don't provide enough information. I know it isn't 8080, b/c I can't telnet into that port. -

Ah! never mind I didn't read the logs carefully:

ERROR: transport error 202: bind failed: Address already in use
ERROR: JDWP Transport dt_socket failed to initialize, TRANSPORT_INIT(510)

It looks like you have enabled debug options in standalone.conf and that debug port is already in use for whatever reason. You might want to edit the standalone.conf and disable the debugging or find out why that port (8787 by default) is being held up.

Good deal. Thanks for clarifying.
