Apologies if duplicate - I couldn't see anything. Interesting BBC article on making outsourcing work for you (short term in this instance)

That is a creative idea indeed. It all depends on whether the employer are paying somebody to create the software himself. Or whether he really was watching videos when he was “working”…

… or moonlighting!

I'm sure Verizon has a team of lawyers at hand who will get him for something...allowing unauthorized access of his account?

India is way ahead here

In several govt offices such as property registration depts, the full time employees (who get a very good salary and pension benefits) routinely bring in random guys to do their job. They are called "aivaji" meaning "the alternates". So the real employee gets full salary and pays a small fraction to the Aivaji. A recent crackdown on an office revealed that some aivajis had been doing that job for years and even the boss had never even seen the actual employee. And these are all public facing jobs I am talking about! The situation was so pathetic that the aivajis knew a lot more and were more helpful to the public than the original employees.

I don't believe this story. Most developers, especially onshore spend a lot of their time communicating, and if he has developer working in China, he will have to spend time communicating with the developer. He might save like 20%-30% of his time
