I got an email from someone who used to live in New York City asking me about the "crazy weather." To which I replied, "Crazy weather? You mean winter. Remember back when you lived here? It wasn't unusual for the media to over-hype snow/blizzards."

The question is do you think the storm is being overhyped?

My answer: It's going to be a bad storm, yes. It's going to be a blizzard. But NYC looks to get less snow than other places. And it is going to be overnight into a Saturday - the most convenient time to have a blizzard that I can think of.

I was working in the Boston area in 76 and we got a similar Nor'easter. It dumped two feet of snow all over New England. The Governor closed all the roads, etc.

Nor'easters happen. Some are bigger than others.

I'm not sure that its possible for the media to over-hype anything these days, because the base-level hype is so high.

Not to thumb my nose at all my friends living in New England, but here'a photo I took today.

I don't miss the snow one iota.

I remember my first year at MIT, walking over the Mass Ave bridge to get to school. The snow was mid-thigh deep one day. Just an average day. I don't know how hyped that storm was, as I couldn't afford a TV at the time

These are not the droids you are looking for. Perhaps I can interest you in a tiny ad?
