JForum looks very nice but I'm concerned about the fact that the Git repo used for development has been inactive for over a year now. The last commit for v3 was Feb. 12, 2012:

https://github.com/rafaelsteil/jforum3/commits/master

For v2 it's even worse - 2 years ago:

https://github.com/rafaelsteil/jforum2/commits/master

Can anyone involved with the project given an indication of the actual status and future plans, if any?

Yes, Rafael acknowledged at some point that work on JForum 3 was very slow, as he was the only one working on it. Not sure if that's still true now. if you're looking for a somewhat active branch, check out https://code.google.com/p/jforum2/.

Ah! I guess JavaRanch is using JForum, do we have any plan to migrate if this news is true? Asking just out of curiosity...

No, we're happy with what we have. We have made substantial changes to the JForum codebase, and our software is far from dead.

The beauty of open source eh?

If you send is by car it's a shipment, but if by ship it's cargo. This tiny ad told me:
