I'm alittle confused on how to create a shell script (say it's named LL) that will list my directory in a long format. I've been trying to do it for several days now, but I just can't seem to get it. Can someone help me?

a shell script is a list of commands you would enter on the command line.

Do you know the command to do what you want (forget about a shell script)?

assuming you have that, it can be as simple as editing a file, pasting in the command, and saving it. You may have to change the permissions, you may need to put in a shebang...but a lot of that depends on what OS you are using (and the specific flavor).
