I am looking for some solution/advise for developing a web service for passing information between 2 java web based application. The service should APP 1 should call APP 2 with bunch of attributes passed along with attachment. App 2 will process the attributes and attachment as per the need. App 1 should receive a message from App2 that the information was received successfully. Does any any one know suitable web service for accomplishing the task?

WebService will handle that, just be careful with time required to transfer, process and receive response, since you have an "attachment".

Thanks. Can Rest or SOAP integrate with the annotated Web service?

What is "the annotated Web service"? That seems an implementation detail that is not germane to the question of whether or not this is possible using SOAP, REST or some other technology.

The standard APIs for doing SOAP and REST in Java (JAX-WS and JAX-RS) both are based on annotations, if that's what you mean.

By annotated web service I meant this web service link provided by Hikari: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/javax/jws/WebService.html. My question was can the implementation of the WebService from the link be integrated with REST or SOAP? I think you answered "Yes".
