I'd also like to mention that this book is poorly named. It's not really a beginner book.

I had a glimpse of the book. It provide a good coverage of Java 1.7. About the title "Beginning Java 7," is somewhat misleading. The word "beginning" is often associated with "beginner" in our mind.
The book is intended for those who are beginning (read: new to) Java 7, not beginners in Java programming.
Quite a thick book indeed, but you can glean about good practice Java programming from Jeff Freisen.

The URL has "]table" appended to it, so it does not work as intended. Here it is, correctly: http://www.apress.com/java/java-programming/9781430239093
Also, welcome to the ranch, Jeff Freisen! I'm excited to have this book's promotion!
