Hello greenhorn programmers,

First of all I'll introduce myself.

My name is Pascal Jacobs, I'm 19 years old and doing a internship at a machine company. At first I didn't intended to go software developing but this company gave me the upportunity to combine software development with mechanical hardware. The end result is confidential, but the required information is here.

The project details:
Can you retrieve the exact IR point coordinates from a Wii-mote and send it to a cnc machine. Actually the CNC machine is conceptually, but the main purpose is to send the coordinates via sockets like modbus or TCP/IP.

My software skills where 0.0. The first month I've been searching the internet for a good program langauge. First I thought that javascript would do it, but after reading and writting little programs I realized that Java might be the one I need. I found someone on youtube with +-45 tutorials to understand the basics and a little beyond the basics.

Then I searched if there are any library's to communicate with the Wiimote. I found the WiiUseJ library, wich contains evrything to retrieve the data and show it with a GUI on your screen. The code is not that hard to read but some thing I dont understand yet. Then the next step is to send those data from that library to a cnc machine over a socket like modbus or TCP/IP. The internet is full of tutorials, but after reading or watching tutorials you realize it wasnt the right tutorial. So to bring me in the right direction and save some time searching for information, I've some questions.

- The next step is to send the IR coordinates via a socket like Modbus or TCP/IP. Wich tutorial can give me a good explenation of the basics of sockets communication. Yes I followed the Oracle Socket Communications Tutorial but thats not exactly what I need to know.

- If you can read the realtime IR coordinate data from the console (Eclipse), how can I make a program that reads the data and send it over the TCP/IP socket?

Im not asking some one to do make this programm(would be easy but it would be really helpfull if some one could give me some tips to work more efficiently.

Sorry if im not very clear, my english is a bit blurry.

Klik on this link so you know what I'm talking about:) : https://code.google.com/p/wiiusej/

Thanks for the help.

Kind regards
