I would like to make a challenge to any serious programmer out there.

Challenge: Make a fully working Bank and ATM system. All connections should use a client and server. All information should be stored in a database and be able to closed and restarted without losing data. Should give option to make an account, deposit, withdraw, use a pin number(for security), and any other banking options felt necessary.

Major props to anyone willing to take on this challenge.

Post your code and wait for the winner to be decided.

First of all, Bear is not going to do that. And second, if anyone does, a moderator will likely delete it.

Unfortunately for this type of question, Coderanch is a learning site. We expect topics to be from ranchers who has a problem and just needs a hint towards the solution. We don't allow full answers to be posted, even if the question is phrased as a challenge.

Sorry,
Henry

I'm sorry to tell you this but it is not homework. I'm taking a basic java class and we use nothing with server or client side code. I just wanted to see what it would take to make such a program.

Then why post such a challenge? "I'm interested in how one would make this, so somebody go make one," is ... fishy ... to say the least. People who see it will mostly be either A) Professional programmers for whom there is no incentive to do such a thing, certainly not "major props," since we already know we can do it and don't need to prove it to anybody, and B) Students who are working through their own studies at their own pace, or that dictated by their course, and who are not suddenly going to jump the rails to take on some big project just because some random posts it on the web.

If you're actually interested to see what it would take to make one of those, then start a thread that says that, and rather than saying, "Everybody, go do the work!" if you start it off with your own thoughts on how you'd approach it, or some more specific questions about certain parts of the problem, you might get an interesting discussion going.

The answer is simple, write some tests, write some code, iterate as required. Here's a start ...
