Hi - I'm an Android/Java newbie trying to pick it up by writing a simple app. I'd like to be able to read in a play script, allow the user to pick a character, and display the script with the relevant lines highlighted. In due course I'd like it to offer functions like testing the user on their cues.

The questions I'm wondering about at the moment are:

1) What would be a sensible data structure for storing the text of a play "by character"...?
2) How would I begin to create an activity which would allow the use to browse for a play in text format and read it into this structure...?

Any hints appreciated...

Umm what does "read in a play script" mean? What is the relation between the chosen character and the relevant lines?
