Hi all I'm not sure if I'm posting this in a correct forum but its a basic question which I'm asking hence I'm posting my question here.!

Well I would like to know what is the ideal DBMS for Java Swing Applications. All I know is MS-Access and MySQL but apart from that what better / best I can use? Please help me with this. Many Thanks.

What is "best" for your specific application depends on many factors specific to your app and your situation. And the fact that Swing is involved has nothing to do with the choice of a DB.

I would avoid Access unless you have a specific reason to want to use it. MySQL is a popular one. It's a reasonable default starting point.

Sir I have developed a small application and I have MySQL configured in my computer but if I'm trying to install the same in other computer, while installing and importing database to the MySQL, I experience a lot of problems.

And...?

There's nothing there that anybody can use to give you any advice other than, "Fix the problems or switch to a different DB."

If you want help you need to TellTheDetails(⇐click).

Hi Pranit,

What database you need is entirely upto the application you are going to make. Just because you are using Swing that does not make any difference. Let's say you want to create an address book for your personal use, I'd say MS Access is just fine. But the same address book if you are going to create it for a company I'd say you need to stick to a bigger DB. If you are having problems with MYSQL, I'd say go with Microsoft's SQL. But there are some difference in the query language.
