Hi,
I imagine any of you would be able to explain this to me.
If I understand correctly, Hadoop is a type of database that handles unstructured data.
How does Map Reduce play into it's use?

Can you give a simple example?

thanks,
Paul

Hadoop is NOT a database. It is framework to process data.

Hadoop is implementation of MapReduce paradigm.

Read about MapReduce paper by google for intro to MapReduce

Look for Wordcount example from Google site for an example.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
