JSP has nothing to do with jQuery at all. JSP is just a templating mechanism to create HTML pages. So once it's at the browser, it's just an HTML page like any other, and jQuery can be used.

Read this article to understand how JSP operates.

No need to apologize. We all have to start somewhere!

Then you did not understand my post. Did you read the article I linked to?

JSP is merely a server-side engine that generates an HTML page to send to the browser. jQuery and any other JavaScript run on the client. So as far as jQuery and JavaScript are concerned, the fact that the page was generated by a JSP is completely irrelevant. The client-side script has no idea that the page came from a JSP, so it's no problem to use JavaScript and jQuery in a JSP.

Just be aware that JSP is server-side (see article in link) and JavaScript is client-side, so they cannot directly interact.

What is JSP EL and JSP JSTL ???

I leave that as a Google/Wikipedia exercise for you. I will tell you that EL is the Expression Language, and JSTL is the JSP Standard Tag Library. You will lots of information on them online.
