I worked in MNC 3.5+yrs exp in Banking domain,I would like to change my career from Mainframe to Java, I got gap in my career for 1yr, during this gap I completed SCJP, learned few of the topics related to web applications(JDBC, Servlet and JSPs). Now I am practicing few of the projects also. Now I would like to know that to enter as 2yrs experienced candidate in Java, What I need to have? in interviewer point of you? Please can any one suggest on this.

Unsurprisingly, you would need two years of experience. Please don't lie and say that you have experience you do not have.

Hi Ernest,

Sorry to say this..
I didn't say that I have 2 experience in Java, I have experience in Mainframe( Banking domain), would like to change my career in Java.. please do advise me in that perspective.

Actually, you kinda hinted it when you mentioned that you want to "enter as 2yrs experienced candidate in Java". Quite frankly, I think that the best advice is to be truthful. You have programming experience, although it is for the mainframe. You have FinServ experience. And you have Java certifications. Experience is experience -- no need to spin it too much.

Personally, I would be more concerned with the one year gap. It would be a good idea to have an explanation for it.
