How to split a string by a hythen in Java?

Say I have a string namely "Michael Jordan - 23"
I want to split it into "Michael Jordan"
and "23"

I'm not sure what the significance of the regular expression you've posted is. But that code already contains the String.split method, which is what you need. So you just need to work out a regular expression that will find the hyphen.

That's actually pretty trivial - have a go. Try the simplest possible regular expression that might work. Then there's a bit more to it if you want to allow for the spaces round the hyphen as well (especially if the spaces are optional), but it's still not too complicated.

(If you haven't come across regular expressions before, the Java Tutorials are a good place to start).
