Hello Application Frameworks folks -

As we've had relatively little talk on Java CAPS so far on this site, I thought it would be a good idea to open discussion in one place. Here we are.

Java CAPS is a pay-for product, and has active discussion groups available on Yahoo Groups (under STC-user) and ITToolbox (under seebeyond-l). There could well be others I'm unaware of. I'm bringing it up here because, well, this is the community I care most about.

With NetBeans 6.x, the OpenESB project, and the JBI standard, the essence of what makes Java CAPS up -- along with similar toolsets, such as IBM's Tibco -- is now generally available . Java CAPS' proprietary editors and interfaces will remain a purchase-product, so far as I am aware, but those of you investing in OpenESB are already looking at the Open Source version of Java CAPS.

I've been teaching the Java CAPS platform for a bit now, so I'm interested in discussion here on several fronts: as a motivated moderator, as a participant, and perhaps to share knowledge with others who are starting out or running into various technical issues.

I've also timed this announcement to coincide with my teaching gig this week. I'm happy to comment on that as well if you're curious, but please do not use this topic for technical questions. This is an announcement and call for interested participants only. If you're genuinely excited to share in this discussion, by all means post a comment here. I'd like to get a feel for how many people might peruse Java CAPS topics in this forum.

Thanks!

Michael
