Hi all,
I am preparing for the EJB certification and have started using enterprise javabeans 3.1 and ejb 3 in action. I have gone through exam topics for the ejb certification and there are no topics related to JPA part. but my question is that will it help me in preparation of ejb certification if I read the JPA parts. i will give jpa certification after this but i would like to give my ejb certification as early as possible. so dear ranchers please let me know if reading jpa parts will benefit me in the journey to ejb certification ? thanks all in advance.

Hi Gurpeet,

I have also started preparation for EJB certification. On Oracle site, I saw details of the following exam:
Business Component Development with EJB Technology, Java EE 5 (1Z0-860)

The curriculum has Java Persistence API Entities mentioned.

Let me know if you are talking about some different exam.

Thanks,
Prajakta

Dear Prajakta,
the exam you are talking about targets java ee 5. this is old exam. i'm talking about IZ0-895 exam that is validated against jee 6. i would like to tell you earlier the jpa was combined with ejb only. but now jpa has its own seperate specification as well as the exam. so we now have ejb exam and jpa exam seperate. i recommend you should target the latest exam. also the old exam is based on ejb 2 and as you know they are completely different from ejb 3. ejb 3 is whole new beast.

Hi Gurpeet,
Thank you for your inputs.
Yes. I am preparing for EJB3 itself and will be targeting the latest exam.

Lets wait to hear from other people about their opinion of whether studying JPA would help.

Thanks,
Prajakta

No, you don't need to read that at all.

Check this thread: Chapters of EJB spec for EE6 exam
