Is there a (free) tool I could use to benchmark two Windows computers to compare their relative performance? Ideally, it would at least have separate measurements for disk I/O and processing speed.
tl;dr version:
I'm doing development of a
Java web application deployed to
JBoss. Each developer has his/her own local development server to
test the Java code, but we share a common database server, which we all have to connect to. It came to light today that although it takes me nine seconds to start up the JBoss server with the web app deployed, it takes my coworker nearly three minutes. The deployed application is exactly the same, and the JBoss configuration is identical. She remotes in from Hawaii though, whereas I remote in from nearby the office. I also have a much newer machine than she does. I need hard data to justify upgrading her computer or her network connection. Oh, and if anyone can think of a business case for sending me to Hawaii to test things out there, I'll send you as many leis and macadamia nuts as you want!
