jsp authentication from text file

Hi

I am having a text file which contains username and password separated by #. user will provide login information. it has to be checked from text file. then it has go to next page.

When it comes to security it is much better not to roll your own - use the facilities of the servlet API and read up on how they're implemented in whichever servlet container you're using. For example, Tomcat has the concept of Realms for this.

And you should never store passwords in cleartext - hash or digest them, so that it's impossible to retrieve their actual value.

Hi

Here security is not much of importance. Just to upload files for 10 users i am keeping this authentication. let me know how to fetch those lines of file to a string. then i can compare them and proceed

If security is not important, why implement it at all? Sorry, but I'm not interested in helping someone set up bad security; maybe someone else will step up.
