c3P0 and Hibernate

I am trying to test if the if the database connection is connected.

I closed it in hibernate using session.close().

In the hibernate.cfg.xml, I set the acquireRetryAttempts value = 5.

I placed my session.close() before a select on a database table.

Will the select be retried 5 times?
