Hi,

I have a Java app. running in linux machine which needs to send the SOAP request to .NET app running in windows machine, which in turn send the SOAP response. Please clarify how we can go about it and which SOAP API we need to use for the same? Any links or examples are highly appreciated.

Thanks.

SOAP is of course supposed to be a messaging API that is language and OS independent.

What documentation do you have on this .NET service you want to contact. Can you get a WSDL for that service?

Thanks Bill, How I can consume the .NET webservice I have WSDL for .NET webservice which is been shared by .NET developers Whether I need to create java classes from the WSDL and consume the webservices hosted in .NET technolgy. We are using SOAP request (passed from java) and SOAP response(passed from .NET)? The doubt i have here is WSDL will have the contract for the webservice which can be used by any tech. to get the artifacts right irrespective of whether it is java or .net? Please clarify how we can go about it.

Why do you think there is a difference between using a WSDL that fronts a WS implemented in .Net, and using a WSDL that fronts a WS implemented in Java? SOAP and WSDL are designed specifically with the purpose of shielding the client developer from such details. So, yes, you can use the tools that come with the SOAP implementation that you intend to use on the client-side to create Java classes that access that .Net WS.
