Hi, I'm a web developer with plenty of experience using Java, however I am new to JSP. I am building a program which creates invoices for Amazon, eBay and I want to also include Virtuemart, however it is coded it PHP and open source so thus doesn't have a Java API.

Is there anyway I can set up a listener to check for changes in a mySQL database using JSP or JSF. Failing this, I will have to wrangle some form of JSP element within the virtuemart system.

If you can change the PHP code would it not be possible to make a call to a Servlet after updating the database. You could pass all the data you need in the POST and retrieve this data in the Servlet from the request object. I know nothing about PHP but I am sure that it is possible to something like this.

Otherwise I image that you will need to poll the database every few seconds to see if there are changes.
