Welcome to the Ranch

As you already know there are many java certifications. These are grouped into levels: Associate, Professional/Expert, Master. The actual cert is specific to a job role: Programmer, Developer, Web Developer, EJB Developer, Web Services Developer, Enterprise Architect, Mobile Developer.

The first cert is the Oracle Certified Associate - Java Programmer v7 (OCA-JP). The 2nd cert is the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) - Java Programmer v7 (OCP-JP). Then you can practically pursue any other certs eg Developer, Web, EJB etc.

Besides levels and job roles, these certs are grouped into Java Platform: SE, ME, EE. SE deals with core Java (the language), ME mobile and EE enterprise.

SE = Programmer, Developer
ME = Mobile Developer
EE = Web Developer, EJB Developer, Web Services Developer, Enterprise Architect

Suppose you are already prepared for the exam. You need to go to pearsonvue.com/oracle and register for the exam.
There are some classes at Oracle University but they are not mandatory.
For more information about OCAJP 7 go here.
