Update phone number

I want to write a method to change the phone number of a certain contact, identified by name. Here's the method:

	protected void updateContact(String newPhoneNr, String name) {

		cv = new ContentValues();
		this.grantUriPermission("com.example.contactsdemo",getTheUri(), MODE_WORLD_WRITEABLE);

		cv.put( ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER, newPhoneNr);
		Log.i("cv = ", cv.getAsString(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER));
		int nrOfRows = getContentResolver().update(getTheUri(), cv, ContactsContract.Data.DISPLAY_NAME+"=?", new String[]{name});

As you see I tried several variants, but I always get zero rows updated and the phone number is not changed. Any idea how to get it done? Many thanks in advance for help.
