I need to create a browse button that would take image files from server. Then the images are to displayed in clients browser with total size of all the images selected. Can anyone help?

Sounds like you need a controller servlet, and a few JSP pages - nothing particularly complicated. What do you have so far? If you haven't started, what ideas have you had?

Yes. The HTML form element input type=file does that. On the server you can use the Apache Commons FileUpload library to handle the images.

No. If you intend to use JavaScript then I believe there are some nice jQuery file upload plugins that improve the GUI beyond the basic HTML tag.
