An app is a big effort which is hard to justify for a site where everybody is a volunteer. Are you aware that the site has a mobile view that works on lots of smartphones (even iOS, BlackBerries and Windows Phone)? You can find it at https://coderanch.com/mobile.

I know that the mobile site is available but an app is an ultimate solution for everything. You can get notifications when any body quotes you or reply you at your posts and many more.
You know i like to use xda-developers.com on my mobile rather than on my pc because it is very user friendly and notifies you everything if you have subscribed to specific post.

Um, was this meant tongue-in-cheek? I'm having a hard time interpreting it any other way. But if you think an app is such a great thing, maybe you can help us develop one? Thereby getting an app out into wide distribution with your name on it, and also giving something back for all the times the Ranch has helped you. How does that sound?

On this site you can get notifications when:
  • somebody replies to one of your posts
  • somebody replies to a topic you are interested in
  • somebody posts to a forum you are interested in

  • In addition, there are RSS feeds for most parts of the site.

permaculture is largely about replacing oil with people. And one tiny ad:
Java file APIs (DOC, XLS, PDF, and many more)
