Hello,
Trying to install JDK on Windows 7 Pro I see that the program I'm trying to install is not a Win 32 application.
Can you suggest what I should do?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you

Is it a 32 or 64 bit Windows 7 Pro?
What is the name of the JDK installation file?

Welcome to the Ranch.

The installer file might be damaged. Try downloading it again. Download it from Oracle's website.

Get the "Windows x86" version if you have 32-bit Windows, get the "Windows x64" version if you have 64-bit Windows. (Actually, the 32-bit version also works on 64-bit Windows).

I experimented, finally installed JDK with the help of the direction and encouragement I received. I ran a created my first couple of Java programs and the executed properly. One thing I would suggest is that on the Ranch feature "Your First Java Program" there wasn't enough information about "set path...",what "javac..." does, and what "-classpath..." does. I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun with Java. Thanks

Do you mean this page in our FAQ? https://www.coderanch.com/how-to/java/how-to-create-java-program

Also have a look at Oracle's Java Tutorials, they have a lot of tutorials, from the absolute beginner level to advanced concepts.

The Getting Started section explains some background info, how to write, compile and run your first program, and a useful page with common problems and their solutions.
