hi.
i got a problem with xerces.
cd c:\xerces
java sax.SAXCount data/personal.xml -v

i got an error.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sax/SAXCount
i'm running on win xp and have installed the following:
xerces-j-bin.1.4.4
j2sdk1.4.1_02
i have set the classpath under system variables path:
C:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\bin;C:\xerces\xerces.jar;C:\xerces\xercesSamples.jar;

With jdk1.4, there is a xml parser included and will be used by default unless you 'endorse' another parser. Perhaps you are running into this problem?

This could be a CLASSPATH problem. Try putting . (that's a point) in the CLASSPATH. Then when you cd c:\xerces, the java sax.SAXCount should then work.
Or you could put c:\xerces in the CLASSPATH.

Isn't it sax.Counter, not sax.SAXCount ?
You need to have xercesSamples.jar in your CLASSPATH .
