Start with step by step coding;

But first download jdk of any version but I advise the latest from sun java, set it up.
Read documentation on setting the path and test after setting up, by typing: javac in your command prompt.

Open your note pad to practice just your first coding;

class first{

public static void main (String args[ ]){
System.out.println(”Hello world”);

}
}

Note: save with the class name. ( first.java)

Type; All files

Compile and Run at the command prompt as ;

1. javac first.java

2. Java

Good luck

Hello Li Qiangqiang!

I have been learning over two years for now. I recommend you to do a lot of code on Java Core to understand well final, static, abstract, OOP.
You may do your GUI with Java swing.
Try to practice a lot but not reading books.

Yes, it does, albeit after the redirection.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
