I have heard many times that while going to client sales team takes a proof of concept applications for demonstration. I am curious how it gets decided what things need to be in it. If i am told to prepare such thing, what do i need to do in that application as a developer. I want to understand idea and actual output expected from such thing.

POC is usually proof that your approach is feasible (not to be confused with correct)

e.g. I will use a bar code scanner to scan all the zebras in a zoo. Once we scan we will end up with unique entries in the data base and then we can maintain all individual data.
The POC in this case would be if it is really possible to scan zebra stripes.

As you can see this is not the correct solution to monitoring and maintaining zebra data.

As a dev, I try to provide a sample that covers a use-case. For example, to test a web based app stack, a POC might be to write a CRUD application that also uses some database relationships, session management, authentication. Note that nothing fancy/polished or related with a specific problem is covered in such a scenario.

What is wrong with using zebra stripes as a barcode? They are always different, aren't they?
