Hi all! I'm really glad to be here. I joined JavaRanch way back in 1999 when I was studying for the original SCJP exam. It's so cool to have my book featured here.

As Jeanne says (and Jeanne rocks, btw -- be sure to check out her blog), I'll try to answer as many questions as possible for projects from the Groovy ecosystem (Groovy / Grails / Gradle / Griffon / Gaelyk / Spock) this week., especially if they relate in some way to Making Java Groovy.

My book is really about looking at what Java developers normally do and seeing how Groovy can make their lives easier. If you're interested in how the book came about, I have a recent blog post (http://kousenit.wordpress.com/2013/08/30/at-long-last-making-java-groovy/) that discusses it.

For reference, the source code for the book is in a GitHub repository at https://github.com/kousen/Making-Java-Groovy . Each chapter has its own projects, each of which has a Gradle build file.

Thanks again for hosting me. I look forward to spending the week here.

Huh. I just noticed that my post says I joined in 2002. I distinctly remember being here before that, because I got my (first) SCJP cert in 2000 and I know I used this site to study for it.

Oh well. It's been a while, no matter how you count it.

And I didn't even pay Ken to say that . Thanks Ken! You even motivated me to blog tonight. (I've been busy and haven't in a few weeks.)
