OCJP Certification

Hi..I am a newbie to this forum.I would like to know some facts about the OCJP certification exam. For the last four months or so I getting prepared for the OCJP 6 exam. I have gone through each and every part of the Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates book for SCJP 6. But I have a little confusion.I want to know whether I will be able to give the OCJP 6 now or do I have to give OCJP 7? Can someone please guide me by providing all the necessary details. I would appreciate any help provided to me.

Thanks.But my question is still unanswered.I wanna know whether I would be able to give the OCPJP 6 now or not?

If you have been preparing for OCJP6 then go for it. You can always upgrade to 7 later.

As for the major differences between v6 and v7 ... 1) v7 needs 2 exams (OCA7 + OCP7), 2) v7 OCP exam covers more topics than the old OCP6 exam (eg NIO, JDBC, design patterns etc)

As a side note: OCA7 is basically a subset of OCP6 + plus some Java 7 new features.
