Improving activity performance

Hey guys ,

I have a photo editing app on the play store , and lately I've had some complaints about it being slow , the problem is when I'm done with editing ,and click on save , the photo gets saved and i show an exit activity and that's where the lag comes from . I'm using a handler to save the photograph ,still i get sometimes 1-2 second lag. So I have heard a lot about asynctask but I haven't used it .

Can someone please guide me as to how I can open the new activity quickly, while still performing photo saving task in background.
