Career in Calypso

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi,

I have 10 year of experience in Java/J2EE development projects majorly in finance domain. Recently I have got an option to move to Calyso based project.
Can anyone suggest will this be a wise step to move to Calypso. Hows the current and future job market etc?

Technology is moving fast, so it's generally not possible to predict whether any particular piece will be successful or not. But regardless, you won't have a career based on a single piece of software or a single programming language. Be prepared for life-long learning, and you should be fine.

Thats correct Ulf Dittmer. As I don't have much information about Calypso so would appreciate if someone can guide me about current demand, value addition and pros/cons of choosing it over Java/J2EE.

Thanks!!

Is this what you're asking about? It doesn't sound like a programming language, so I doubt that you'd need to "choose it over Java/JEE" - they'd coexist (or it'd coexist with some other programming language if it's not Java-based, but I'm sure you have found out that, and much more, already).

It is good to have Java/JEE + something like calypso, etc. In my view, if you are doing for a short term say 3-6 months, it should be fine.
