My application works fine when I run it on my local machine but fails when deployed to web server and ran. I get the following EL errors.

com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp logServletError SRVE0293E: [Servlet Error]-[/Layout/PleaseWait.jsp]: com.ibm.ws.jsp.translator.JspTranslationException: JSPG0227E: Exception caught while translating /Layout/PleaseWait.jsp:
/Layout/PleaseWait.jsp(0,1) --> JSPG0122E: Unable to parse EL function ${progressbarObj.getProgressbarsource()}.

com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp logServletError SRVE0293E: [Servlet Error]-[/Layout/HeaderCenterForm.jsp]: com.ibm.ws.jsp.translator.JspTranslationException: JSPG0227E: Exception caught while translating /Layout/HeaderCenterForm.jsp:
/Layout/HeaderCenterForm.jsp(7,2) --> JSPG0122E: Unable to parse EL function ${fn:trim(userDataObj.getFullname())}.

EL automatically adds the "get" when you are retrieving properties, and don't add the parenthesis.

Try src="${progressbarObj.progressbarsource}"

Please do not modify posts after they've been made. Not only does impossibly make response no longer makes sense, there's no indication that new content has been added. Always add additional information as replies, not by editing messages. Thanks.

Sorry about that. Misunderstood what the 'Edit' option was used for.

Looks like this is going to fix my issue. Thanks

Is this documented any where. These things would be go to know before thousands of references are made that will not work.

I learned it from this book, which I think is still one of the best for learning this stuff. I'm sure it's also buried in the Oracle apis and tutorials somewhere, but I don't have it bookmarked.

You should have the Expression Language specification handy.
