[/color]

this is my code concerning the topic. I have a CSV.file that ive extracted the columns start position, stop position and accession number, I am then able to find start and stop positions via user input and colour them red, what I would really like to do is let the program to do it for the user. but when I put my start and stop numbers from the CSV file into an array list then into my subsequence I get an error saying it cant process strings even though the start and stop regions are numbers.

Question how do I get my array to work with the find and replace section many thanks for any help

Is this a compilation error or a runtime error ? Either way you need to post the exact error message (copy and paste it) and tell us which line it is happening on.

Did you post the real code? It has lines too long, some caused by the automatic comments from NetBeans. While I was trying to remedy those long lines (and you can see how it is done, for example here), I think I found a quote mark missing. You can easily identify it because the text should be blue and is black.

You might not have suffered that problem if you had used printf rather than println.

Actually, looking back at the code, I am starting to think that may be what the code is supposed to say. Sorry for raising a red herring.
