Hi,

We do a periodic jstack on our java processes[every 15 minutes]. All of a sudden, we find that the thread dumps are not getting collected and we get this message instead

21799: Unable to open socket file: target process not responding or HotSpot VM not loaded
The -F option can be used when the target process is not responding

When i check the process itself, i find it healthy and responding. The java processes on which we do jstack include tomcat, standalone processes. And also please note that this doesnt happen for every java process, seems to happen for a select few.

Any ideas on how to debug?

Thanks,
Arjun

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
